Dr. Chen is a Distinguished Professor of Sociology at National Taiwan University since 2008. He is currently serving as the Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Research Institute for Democracy, Society, and Emerging Technology, a recently established policy think-tank for National Science and Technology Council, Taiwan. His primary research interests are public deliberation of science and technology policies, impacts of emerging technology on the development of democracy, and social justice and inclusive technologies. In addition, he has served as a member of Advisory Board of East Asian Science, Technology, and Society, an international and inter-disciplinary journal with a special emphasis on Asian theoretical perspectives.
