Starting from the 112th academic year, four required courses will provide foundational knowledge, theoretical literacy, and research methods in sociology. The 25 elective credits will offer substantial knowledge in specific areas, while three required courses from other departments will provide foundational interdisciplinary knowledge in the humanities and social sciences. Based on this foundation, students can combine courses according to their interests, inclinations, and career plans. They can take more elective courses in sociology to progress towards professional training in sociology. Alternatively, they can take various courses from other departments to explore different directions and enrich their knowledge outside of sociology. Additionally, they can use the flexibility in course selection to pursue minors and double majors.

Required Courses

Required Elective Courses

Required Courses

Course Title

Credits

Year

Course Time

Sociology

6 credits

Freshmen

Tue. 234 (+Discussion Session)

Social Statistics

4 credits

Freshmen (First half)

Fri. 234
Fri. 56

Advanced Social Statistics

4 credits

Freshmen (Second half)

Fri. 234
Fri. 56

Social Research Methods

8 credits

Sophomore

Wed. 234
Fri. 89

Social Psychology*

3 credits

Sophomore (Second half)

Wed. 789

Sociology Theories*

6 credits

Junior

Tue. 234

*For students admitted in Academic Year 2023 and thereafter, “Social Psychology” is no longer a required course.
