What changes and what remains the same as societies absorb technological developments has been a question of theoretical concern in STS. The case of nuclear power offers an opportunity for a relatively longue durée look at this question through the lens of one technological sector that has evolved in tandem with American power and politics since the mid-twentieth century.

About the Speaker

Sheila Jasanoff is the Pforzheimer Professor at Harvard Kennedy School and a leading scholar in science and technology studies (STS). Jasanoff founded Harvard’s STS Program and the Science and Democracy Network, and has been honored with awards such as the Holberg Prize and the Guggenheim Fellowship. She is a member of several prestigious academies and has held visiting posts at top universities around the world.

Title：Can Nuclear Be Green?
