本演講以 2015 至 2025 年間、歷時十年的研究與大量質性訪談資料為基礎，探討後社會主義中國中，國家、社會與家庭共同維繫的儒家與異性戀規範如何逐漸鬆動。研究指出，LGBTQ+ 群體在國家管控加劇下，仍持續建立社群、重塑自我認同，並重新協商家庭與世代關係，同時在市場化、數位化與階級／性別不平等之間，探索非主流的人生與親密關係可能。
Drawing on ten years of research conducted between 2015 and 2025, and one of the largest qualitative datasets of its kind, this talk traces the weakening of the state-society-family alliance and its capacity to enforce Confucian and heteronormative ideals in post-Socialist China. It shows how LGBTQ+ people build communities amid intensified state crackdowns, develop new forms of personhood that subvert collectivist frameworks, and renegotiate intergenerational contracts. They navigate sexual possibilities opened up by marketization and digitalization while confronting hierarchies of desirability structured by class inequality and gender norms. The talk illustrates how younger Chinese people’s efforts to resist traditional obligations and pursue nonnormative life projects are relational, partial, and intersectional, shaped through encounters with changing configurations of power and inequality at the intersection of global forces and local histories.

Susanne Choi 為香港中文大學社會學教授暨性別研究中心聯席主任，並擔任多個國際重要期刊編輯委員。其研究聚焦現代化、全球化、移民與數位化等社會變遷如何重塑性別、家庭、性／別認同、勞動與社會運動。著有《Masculine Compromise: Migration, Family and Gender in China》，曾獲國際社會學會移民研究最佳專書獎；新書《Queer Resistance: Contesting State, Family and Inequality in Post-Socialist China》預計於 2026 年出版。
Susanne Choi is Professor of Sociology and Co-Director of the Gender Research Centre at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She currently serves as an associate editor of Gender, Work and Organization, and sits on the editorial (advisory) boards of Gender and Society, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Gender, Work and Organization, Asian Population Studies, Families, Relationships and Societies, and Sexuality and Culture: An Interdisciplinary Journal. Her research examines how large-scale social transformations, including modernization, urbanization and migration, globalization, and digitalization, reshape gender and family relationships, sexual identities, work, social stratification, and social movements. Her lead-authored book, Masculine Compromise: Migration, Family and Gender in China (University of California Press), received the Best Book Award from RC31, Section on Migration, of the International Sociological Association. Her second monograph, Queer Resistance: Contesting State, Family and Inequality in Post-Socialist China, will be published by the University of California Press in August 2026. She has also published widely in leading international journals, including the American Journal of Sociology.
