The Department of Sociology at National Taiwan University invites applications for one full-time faculty position at all ranks beginning from August 1, 2026. Area of specialization is open. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in sociology or a related field and have published (or received an acceptance for) at least one peer-reviewed journal article within the last five years. Priority will be given to candidates who are able to teach courses in quantitative methods.
Applicants should submit the following documents as a single PDF file with a table of contents:
- A cover letter that describes your current and future research and your teaching experience and philosophy
- A copy of your Ph.D. diploma. If ABD (All But Dissertation), candidates will be required to complete the doctoral degree by June 30, 2026, and provide a letter from the dissertation advisor or program administrators certifying that all degree requirements will be met by that deadline
- Curriculum vitae
- Official transcript for the Ph.D. program (or other documents of professional training)
- Sample syllabi for two courses most relevant to applicant’s specialty
- Two letters of recommendation should be emailed directly by the recommenders to social@ntu.edu.tw and CC’d to Ms. Wang (liwang@ntu.edu.tw).
- Candidates should send the following writing samples: (1) a complete dissertation, or the completed chapters thereof (with a Chinese or English abstract if the dissertation is not written in Chinese or English), and (2) no more than five scholarly works, either published or accepted for publication, from the last five years.
Applicants with doctoral degrees granted before August 1, 2020 do not need to submit dissertations, transcripts, or recommendation letters. For international applicants, please indicate your level of proficiency in Chinese in the cover letter and CV.
