大家好，我是何明修，在一九七○年代出生於台北市西門町。從幼稚園到博士畢業，我就讀的學校離住家都沒有超過五公里，因此從小就免於長程通學與負笈就學的辛苦，這應該是「天龍國人」所享有的「特權」之一。

在大學階段，我念的是台大外文系，後來因為參與了社團的讀書小組，我決定改念社會學。在2000年，我以台灣環境運動的研究取得了台大社會系的博士；從2001年開始，我曾在嘉義南華大學、高雄中山大學任職，在2009年，我回到台大社會系任教。有機會因為工作關係，長期在南部服務，親身體驗不同的台灣風土人情，這是十分難得的福氣。

我的學術研究關注社會運動、環境與社會、勞動議題。我的研究作品探討了台灣的環境運動、勞工運動、學生運動、教改運動、婚姻平權、保守派運動等。民主化後的台灣出現了各種組織與倡議行動，對於關注社會運動與抗爭政治的研究者而言，真的是充滿知識挑戰的寶島。在晚近，我也開始關注香港的民主運動，並且比較台港如何抗拒威權統治的對外輸出與擴張。除了中英文的期刊論文以外，我的主要研究著作包括《綠色民主：台灣環境運動的研究》(2006)、Working Class Formation in Taiwan: Fractured Solidarity in State-Owned Enterprises (2014)、Challenging Beijing’s Mandate of Heaven: Taiwan’s Sunflower Movement and Hong Kong’s Umbrella Movement (2019)。
