Faculty position opening — Department of Sociology at National Taiwan University

The Department of Sociology at National Taiwan University invites applications for one full-time faculty positions at all ranks beginning from August 1, 2024. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in sociology or a related field and have published (or received an acceptance for) at least one peer-reviewed journal article.

To apply, applicants should submit the following documents as a single PDF file:

  1. Cover letter that describes your research and teaching plan
  2. Copy of Ph.D. diploma. If ABD, candidates will be required to complete the doctoral degree by June 30, 2024, and provide a letter from the dissertation advisor or program administrators certifying that all degree requirements will be met by that deadline
  3. Curriculum vitae
  4. Official transcript for the Ph.D. program (or other documents of professional training)
  5. Sample syllabi for two courses most relevant to applicants’ specialty
  6. Two letters of recommendation should be sent directly to social@ntu.edu.tw and copy Ms. Wang (liwang@ntu.edu.tw).
  7. COMPLETE CHAPTERS of Ph.D. dissertation or draft, and publications from the last five years. If the dissertation is not written in Chinese or English, please provide an abstract in Chinese
  8. Applicants with doctoral degrees granted before August 1, 2018, do not need to submit dissertations, transcripts, or recommendation letters.

Only complete applications will be reviewed. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to give a job talk in mid-March 2024. For international applicants, please indicate your level of proficiency in Chinese.
